This project has been on my mind for over a year and it was simply a question of all the right elements coming together. I met everyone in a quick succession of time, from the models to the designer. The shoot was done at Black Dog Studios, Cape Town.
The concept behind the shoot
I was looking for something fresh and trendy, appealing to a youthful audience. I needed a mixture of formal glamour and sexy freshness. When I shared my idea with Elaine from Elaine Blom, she was one up on me and already had something to showcase.
Akifah, a campaign manager, Jody, a medical science student and Kelly, a commerce student and make-up artist were the ladies I chose as models for my very first project. I simply loved the variation in personalities that these ladies brought and the shoot was made easier with them. Thank you, ladies!
Elain Blom, herself, done the styling as I felt she will be able to give justice to her own clothing line. For the bridal gowns, I wanted to depict the complete essence of the dress and what the designer wanted to convey. For the informal, casual wear I was looking for a carefree and vibrant look.
